Why are Today's Most Vocal Bigots, White Female Politicians?

Women of the Ku Klux Klan
I'm genuinely stumped by the social phenomenon of white female politicians like Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin,  and others, who have taken on the role of mouthpiece for the most bigoted segments of American society.   The political careers of these women were made possible by the civil rights movement, and yet they are making reputations for themselves on the right, by modeling their anti-black, anti-immigrant rage on the once highly-active ladies' auxiliary of the Ku Klux Klan.  The only difference might be that these female politicians give more elegant tea parties.

Just last week, Marilyn Davenport, central committee member of the Orange County (Calif) Republican Party circulated an email depicting President Barack Obama as an ape.  When Scott Baugh, chair of the Orange County Republican Party Party called on Ms. Davenport to resign, she refused, declaring:
"I'm sorry if my email offended anyone, I simply found it amusing regarding the character of Obama and all the questions surrounding his origin of birth."
Minnesota Congresswoman, Michele Bachmann, who accused President Barack Obama of turning the U.S. economy into that of the failed African state of Zimbabwe, also warned recently that the Democrats harbored  a secret plan:
"They want Americans to take transit and move to the inner cities. They want Americans to move to the urban core, live in tenements, take light rail to their government jobs. That's their vision for America."
Sarah Palin encouraged supporters during the 2008 presidential elections to yell “terrorist” when she talked about Obama in her speeches.  While governor of Alaska, a state with a 7% black population, Mrs. Palin responded to criticisms that she employed no African-Americans on her staff, by acknowledging the fact and saying that she did not intend to either.

Sharron Angle, a Nevada assemblywoman, who ran unsuccessfully for Harry Reid's Senate seat, produced  a television ad, juxtaposing the image of celebrating white high school graduates, with that of three scowling Hispanic men.  The ad's message was that "illegal Mexican immigrants"  were trying to seize preferred college tuition rates from full-blooded American students.

Is what I'm noting, all about ambitious women in the Tea Party movement, finding it politically advantageous to take on the roles of spokeswomen for American racism and bigotry, or am I missing something?
