Why America Needs a Muslim President
The White House should stop trying to convince the Fox news crowd that President Barack Obama's a Christian. Given this epidemic of religious bigotry ignited by the controversy surrounding the construction of an Islamic Cultural Center at Ground Zero, what America needs most is just that -- a Muslim President.
It is beginning to appear that America's enemies in the Middle East may have pegged us right after all. With the veil of civility removed, we are, indeed, coming across as a society that despises Muslims.
Now that my brain juices are flowing, I've got an even better idea. The chances of a Muslim getting elected to the U.S. presidency have about the same probability as that of Star Trek's Commander Data assuming the Oval Office. So, for the sake of saving what's left of America's democratic reputation and principles, President Obama should just go ahead and convert to Islam. At least the twenty percent of the U.S. public who already believes he's Muslim, could hardly complain since their assertions will at least be proved right.
