Karl Rove Caught Shelving Books at Local Barnes & Noble

President Obama Being Lynched in Effigy
Yesterday evening, I was browsing the "new releases"  shelf at my local Barnes & Noble when I noticed something startling.  The title or subtitle of every book with President Barack Obama's name on the cover, either referred to him as a communist, Muslim saboteur, swindler or idiot.  While it is true that I live in a red  state, it is also true that the confederacy has been dismantled for more than a century.

No wonder Karl Rove, Mitt Romney and the Republican pollsters suffered such a humiliating shock on election day.  Every information source in their universe is fiction, parading as reality.     Once legitimate booksellers now pander to what their book buyers wish to hear.  There is no standard of accuracy, no inherent respect for the office of the presidency.  The only criteria for landing on these book shelves is apparently their marketability. It is raw, political pornography parading as informative discourse. Surely, Karl Rove had arranged this book shelf, which included Paul Kengor's The Communist: the Untold Story of Barack Obama; Spreading the Wealth: How Obama is Robbing the Suburbs by Stanley Kurtz, The Amateur:Barack Obama in the White House by Ed Klein;  Dinesh D'Souza's Obama's America: the Unmaking of the American Dream; Mugged: Racial Demographics from the Seventies to Obama by Ann Coulter, Hugh Hewitt's  The Rise, Fall and Epic Fail of the Hope and Change Presidency; and Tom Fitton's The Corruption Chronicles: Obama's Big Secrecy; Big Corruption; and Big Government.

Political analysts used to speak of "low information voters," a polished term for high school drop-outs, the illiterate and the mentally challenged.  But the people grabbing these books off the shelves and  plunking down $29.95 do not fit that demographic.   No.  These are the grandsons and daughters of the elegantly-coiffed, pearl-clad women, who spat on President John F. Kennedy as he exited a Dallas hotel shortly before he was assassinated.

Clearly Barnes & Noble has some standards.  I have yet to see pornographic magazines or
X-rated movies in their inventory, even though these items would  sell better than their current events titles. What tragedy is this country waiting for before its bookstores pull seditious trash from its book shelves?
